'The song that rescued me' Bee Bakare releases catchy uplifting jam 'Awake'

Pulling inspiration from the likes of Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston and India Arie,  Nigeria-born British singer-songwriter Bee Bakare returns with powerful vocals in this catchy pick-me-up jam 'Awake'. Bee hopes to spread the message of encouragement and strength to anyone struggling with disappointments and anyone with a dream.

Having recently won the Future Music Songwriting Award and appeared as a judge on the BBC One primetime TV show ‘All Together Now’ alongside Spice Girl Geri Horner, Bee was given the opportunity to perform at Buckingham Palace. Her talents don’t just lie within music either. The young entrepreneur is the host of her own thriving live music nights, Soul Stripped Sessions, where she showcases women in music. She has received support from the likes of BBC Radio Bristol and London, BBC music Introducing, Premier Radio, Celeb mix and Huffington Post.

Awake is out today! across all music platforms.

When asked about the track, Bee stated:
“It’s an upbeat song but the song actually came from a dark place. I was struggling with sleeping, feeling unlucky in love and like my dreams weren't happening. In my imagination I pictured myself in a happy place, perfect guy, sweet life, my music dreams coming true. The song became a temporary escape from reality. It sort of rescued me. Every night I played it to myself as a comfort. Then I got into studio with my producer and that really brought the song to life."
